Goosebumps the Musical Audition information
ECC Theatre is thrilled to present the area premiere of Goosebumps the Musical: The Phantom of the Auditorium.
Based on the bestselling book series by R.L. Stine, Goosebumps the Musical follows the students of Wood's Mill Middle School as they prepare for a school production of The Phantom. But when strange accidents begin to plague rehearsals, rumors spread that a mysterious phantom is haunting the theatre.
Packed with catchy songs, laugh-out-loud comedy, and just the right amount of spooky fun, this nostalgic musical mystery is the perfect way to start our 26/27 season.

Auditions- Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25 at 6:30pm in the lobby of the John Edson Anglin Performing Arts Center at East Central College..

By popular demand, we will hold an audition workshop on Sunday, August 23rd from 4-6pm where you can learn the vocal selections from our Music Director and work with your fellow performers to feel more comfortable with your audition.
No signup needed- just join us in the theatre at 4pm on Sunday, August 23rd.
Both days of auditions will be vocal selections and readings- instead of holding traditional callbacks, we'll use both audition evenings to explore scenes, music, and character combinations.
If possible, please attend both August 24 and 25 as part of the audition process.
Most performers will not be needed for the entire evening on both nights and we will release people as soon as we can. If you cannot attend both nights, please join us on whatever night is best for you at 6:30pm

Casting: 15-20 performers ages 16+. This is a small show with a quick rehearsal process.

All student roles will be played by adult actors (despite the fact that the characters are in middle school!)

Many roles are gender fluid.

CASTING BREAKDOWN:

BROOKE RODGERS
Sharp, enthusiastic, and endearingly chatty when nervous. Brave, a little anxious, and loves all things scary.

ZEKE MATTHEWS
Brooke’s best friend since kindergarten. Class clown, prankster, and self-proclaimed scary-stuff expert - despite not having actually read the play.

BRIAN COLSON
The new kid from Indiana, quiet and kind, gets flustered around Brooke. Carries a major secret.

TINA POWELL
The understudy who desperately wants the lead. Conniving but competent - she basically runs the entire backstage operation. Comic villain energy.

ANNA (lead ensemble)
Obsessed with clowns. Keeps suggesting clowns. There are no clowns. Recurring bit with great comedic payoff potential.

CAMI (lead ensemble)
Screams on cue (literally listed as a special skill). Reactive and fun; great for physical comedy.

COREY (lead ensemble)
Playing Brooke’s father in the show-within-a-show. Notes that playing a middle schooler’s dad while being in middle school is weird.

STEVE (lead ensemble)
In the cast because he carpools with Corey. Dry, deadpan delivery with some of the best throwaway lines.

MS. WALKER
The drama teacher and descendant of the teacher from the original doomed production. Dry wit, a little scattered, secretly haunted by the legend.

EMILE
The mysterious “night janitor” living in the sub-basement.
Gruff and intimidating at first, but ultimately sympathetic.

THE COMPANY- will be a mix of ages (16+ and older actors encouraged!). This group creates the entire story of the Phantom and appears in every scene. Looking for performers who make strong choices and have no fear.
