Acting Classes Beginning Acting (CT 1403): This course is designed to introduce the students to different aspects of performance, including scene study, script analysis, audition technique, monolouge performance and the Stanislavski system of acting. The class will culminate in a public performance of the work done by the students throughout the semester.
Intermediate Acting (CT 1404): This course builds on what is learned in Beginning Acting class. Students will continue to explore different acting techniques through character development and script analysis. Students also mentor Beginning Acting students. Acting Practicum (CT 2861-63) This independent study course involves a one-on-one arrangement between the instructor/director and the student/actor. Class provides a vehicle whereby a student may study special direction or be assigned special readings/assignments to enhance a particular skill that is of interest to the student. Such skills as mime, roles in productions onstage or black box, or assignments such as reading plays that involve reviews and dramaturgy may be studied.
Advanced Acting Practicum (CT 2871-73) Class provides a vehicle whereby a student may study special direction or be assigned special readings/assignments to enhance a particular skill that is of interest to the student which challenges at an advanced level. Outcomes of this class may include presentations of critiques to other theatre classes, tutoring beginning students in acting, or setting up demonstrations such as stage combat or choreography for other actors or dancers to learn. The advanced level will challenge the student to teach others and will culminate in a production or presentation.

Directing Classes Beginning Directing (CT 2003): Through lecture, discussion and practical hands on experience, students will learn the art and craft of stage directing. Topics will include script analysis, rehearsal management, directing and stage management techniques. The class will end with a student directed and acted ten minute play showcase.
Intermediate Directing (CT 2223): Students will continue their study of the craft of directing through more advanced scene work. Topics will include increased development of a working vocabulary of technical terminology. application of a variety of different directing theories, script selection based on various factors, creation of a prompt book and continued investigation of noted directors. The class will culminate in a student directed showcase. |
Stagecraft Classes Theatre Practicum: Drama Production (CT 2821- 23):The student will enhance skills in scene construction through problem solving, hands-on experience. Set construction for this student will center upon applying fundamental construction and scenery techniques required of both hard and soft scenery. Each student will have the opportunity to advance to an area of their choice based upon instructor approval.
Theatre Practicum: Musical Production (CT 2801-03)This course teaches construction and scene painting in a multiple unit set that is characteristic of musicals. The student will be taught techniques of scene painting through hands on class work that will culminate in a show.
Advanced Theatre Practicum (CT 2811-13) This class is an individual, hands on experience. Students are challenged with advanced class work such as plotting, hanging, focusing, and cueing light cues and/or setting up microphones (hand level, lav, wireless) and cueing their operation in a musical. In construction, the advanced student will be assigned projects that teach how to realize the design of the scene designer |
